Russian stocks may decline amid drop of oil prices

MOSCOW, Dec 21 (PRIME) -- Russian stocks may decrease at the opening on Monday following a decline in oil prices and pessimistic moods abroad, analysts said.

The U.S. stock indices fell by 0.1–0.4%, the U.S. stock index futures are trading around the levels fixed on December 18, European indices closed in some minus, and Asian indices are showing mixed dynamics, Olma senior analyst Anton Startsev said.

“A downward correction on the RTS index is possible at the beginning of trading today following energy prices – the tightening of restrictions on flights due to the emergence of a new strain of coronavirus in the U.K. has led to a noticeable downward correction in commodity contracts, Brent oil futures are trading 3% below the closing level fixed on Friday (December 18,” the analyst said.
